Te Wero – The Challenge
An exciting fixed term position has been created to provide efficient and high-quality administrative technical support and project coordination for the Climate Action & Resilience team.
Key accountabilities:
Administrative Support: Offer daily administrative assistance to the Climate Action & Resilience Department, which includes creating PowerPoint presentations, formatting documents, and maintaining databases and document management systems.
Communications & Engagement: Develop and implement communication plans, manage content, ensure branding consistency, support cross-council communications, identify engagement opportunities, work with te reo Māori translator.
Project Coordination: Coordinate departmental projects, manage inboxes, assist with research, coordinate meetings, prepare agendas and minutes, support customer service requests, assist with presentations.
Financial & Contract Support: Track budgets, raise POs, process invoices, assist with procurement and carbon reporting.
Technical & Analytical Support: Support GIS mapping, data tasks, research, analysis, and reporting.

I ā koe - About You
We are ideally looking for a candidate who possesses:
A solid background in office administration and or project administration, with at least 5 years of experience in a similar role.
Strong analytical skills, capable of interpreting, managing information, and resolving issues autonomously.
Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing, with the ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
The capacity to prioritise tasks that may conflict, manage workload efficiently, and work independently.
A keen eye for detail and a high degree of accuracy.
Advanced skills in documentation, report writing, and workflow processing.
Exceptional time management skills and the ability to work under pressure.
A commitment to treating information with sensitivity and confidentiality.
Comfortability with pronouncing and using basic Te Reo Māori in emails, meetings, and conversations, and an understanding and appreciation of the use of tikanga at work.
Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
A passion for achieving the best outcomes for our community.
Prior experience in Local Government would be a plus.

The salary for this position is Grade 13 within Council's salary structure (Band: $70,487 to $82,926 pro rata per annum) dependent on qualifications and experience, plus Kiwi Saver.
