About the role

COORDINATOR OF GROWTH AND INVESTMENT SECONDMENT OPPORTUNITY – EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST SOUGHT

We are seeking expressions of interest for an 8‑week secondment as Acting Coordinator Growth and Investment, with a core focus on leading the development of the draft Economy and Place Strategy.

This is a great opportunity for someone looking to step into a strategic leadership role and help shape the future economic and place‑based direction of our city.

Primary objectives of the role

• Leading the Growth and Investment unit focussed on investment attraction and facilitation, visitation, new business establishment.
• Developing and implementing strategies related to growth and investment.
• Marketing and promoting the diverse lifestyle and economic offerings and opportunities of our city.
• Guiding developers and construction companies through the permits process to accelerate large scale development delivery.
• Building and fostering strategic relationships to attract investment and drive economic growth.

Key focus areas for the secondment

• Project managing development of the draft Economy and Place Strategy including internal consultation (February), BLCAC engagement/draft strategy review (February), presentations and reports to ET and CBS (March); and planning and preparation of phase 2 engagement (roll out mid-April).
• Oversee Growth and Investment unit activities including key Q3 projects: precinct business/retail audits and analysis, Dandenong South business audit and engagement, investment attraction media asset library.
• Liaise with developers and construction companies on strategic projects (eg Capital Alliance, Launch Housing).
• Maintain strategic relationships.

To be successful in the role

You will bring strong communication, strategic thinking and project coordination skills, along with understanding and experience in economic development.
