The opportunity

As the Cyber Security Operations Officer you'll play an important role in protecting Council's digital environment by supporting day to day cyber security operations. Working closely with senior ICT staff, you'll help monitor security alerts, investigate potential threats, support incident response activities and contribute to the ongoing improvement of Council's cyber security posture. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with ICT or cyber security experience who enjoys problem solving, continuous learning and making a meaningful impact within a community focused organisation.

What you’ll be doing

• Monitor, investigate and triage cyber security alerts across Council systems
• Support cyber incident response, documentation, escalation and remediation activities
• Assist with endpoint security, device compliance and vulnerability management processes
• Support identity and access management activities including MFA and access reviews
• Maintain accurate security records, reports, procedures and awareness materials

What you'll need to succeed

• Qualifications in Cyber Security, Information Technology, Computer Science or similar
• Experience in ICT support, service desk, systems administration or cyber security roles
• Knowledge of Microsoft 365, Windows environments, networking and identity management
• Strong documentation, organisational and issue escalation skills
• Understanding of cyber security frameworks, tools and practices including Essential Eight
