Help children learn through exploration, problem-solving and play in Mandarin

We are seeking a Degree qualified, Early Childhood Teacher who speaks and writes in Mandarin to oversee the education and care of preschool children aged 3-5 years by delivering an innovative and culturally sensitive program that supports their overall development.

The Early Childhood Language Program is delivered in accordance with the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework and the ECLP Support and Implementation Guide. Children will be encouraged to learn through exploration, problem-solving and play in Mandarin.

You’ll work in a supportive team, collaborating with families to ensure each child's individual needs are met, building strong relationships with the team, children, and families.

What you'll bring

• A tertiary qualification in Early Childhood Education (Degree in Early Childhood) or qualifications deemed appropriate by the Australian Early Childhood Association.
• Fluency and proficiency in spoken and written Mandarin.
• Knowledge of the Education and Care service National Regulations 2011 and Education and Care Service National Law Act 2010
• Demonstrated knowledge of Mandatory Reporting requirements.
• Awareness of cultural needs of families.
• Effective communication with families, professionals, and people from diverse socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds.

Mandatory pre-employment screenings/requirements

• Pre-employment Medical Check
• Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check
• Working with Children’s Check
• Current, recognised Level 2 First Aid, Anaphylaxis and Asthma Certificates, with CPR updates completed in the last 12 months.
• Mandatory Reporting certificate
• VIT registration
• Willing to sit a language proficiency assessment organised by the Department of Education

We offer:

• A temporary (to 31 December 2027) part time role working 9 hours per week at Morobe Street and St Hellier Children’s centres.
• Salary in the range $15,974.29 to $27,688.26 per annum (equivalent at full time for comparison is $67,447 to $116,906) dependent on qualifications per annum plus super.
