The Opportunity
This role is a fixed term position for up to 12 months.
The Finance Officer - Accounts Payable is responsible for the timely and
accurate payment of accounts to suppliers.
The key responsibilities include:
(1) Ensure timely and accurate processing of payments of Council's
obligations in accordance with agreed payment terms, whilst safeguarding
the integrity of accounts payable processes.(2) Reconcile and maintain accounts payable and purchase card systems on
a monthly basis including but not limited to vendor statements, general ledger
accounts and Purchase Card Statements.
(3) Develop, implement and review policies, guidelines and standard work
practices in relation to the Accounts Payable Team to improve and enhance
the quality and efficiencies within the team and to advantage the wider
organisation.
About Yourself
A person in this position will need to hold a relevant Certificate III in Business
OR is able to demonstrate equivalent related experience.
It is also highly desirable for the successful candidate to have:
(1) Local Government experience including an understanding of Local
Government accounts payable systems.
(2) Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the Local Government
Act and Regulation, Goods & Services Tax Act, Payroll Tax Act, Building
Industry Fairness (Security in Payment) Act and Subcontractors Charges Act
in relation to the determination and payment of accounts.
