This fixed-term opportunity is a great way to support our community while covering a period of parental leave.  We are looking for a skilled Gardener to help keep our public spaces looking their best for residents and visitors to enjoy.

About the role

As a Gardener, you will be responsible for the care, maintenance, and enhancement of public gardens, landscaped areas, and horticultural features across council-managed parks and open spaces. You will help ensure that all garden areas are healthy, visually appealing, and safe for public use.

You will also support general grounds maintenance activities when required, working as part of a team committed to high presentation standards across Rotorua’s parks and open spaces.

About you

  • Experience in gardening, horticulture, or grounds maintenance.

  • A practical, hands-on approach and good attention to detail.

  • Ability to work safely with tools, equipment, and in an outdoor environment.

  • A positive attitude and willingness to be part of a supportive team.
