Salary:                   $39.92 - $43.11 per hour including 25% casual loading

We are seeking a reliable and safety-focused Garbage Truck Operator to join our Waste Services team on a casual basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced operator who enjoys working outdoors, contributing to the local community and being part of a professional Council team.

Key responsibilities include:

• Operating garbage and waste collection vehicles safely and efficiently.
• Collecting residential and commercial waste in accordance with Council schedules.
• Monitor and report on damaged bins, contaminated recyclables and issues with bin location.
• Completing pre-start vehicle inspections and reporting any faults or maintenance issues.
• Operating hydraulic lifting and waste collection equipment.
• Working cooperatively with Waste Services staff and the broader Council team.
• Providing courteous and professional service to members of the community.
• Following Council policies, work procedures, traffic regulations and workplace health and safety requirements.
• Drive and operate vehicles in a safe and competent manner within all road traffic laws and regulations.
• Maintaining a high standard of vehicle cleanliness and presentation.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:

• A current HR (Heavy Rigid) driver's licence or higher.
• Previous experience operating heavy vehicles, preferably garbage collection or waste management vehicles.
• A strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• A reliable and responsible approach to attendance and work duties.
• The ability to undertake physically active outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
• Previous experience in local government or waste services will be highly regarded.

Your Working Environment (for eligible employees)

• All Uniforms & PPE supplied.
• 50% loading applies to work performed on a Saturday.
• 100% loading applies to work performed on a Sunday.
• Adverse Working Conditions Allowance
