Geospatial Analyst

About the Role

This role plays a key part in enabling the effective use of geospatial technologies across Council. You will provide expert GIS analysis, data management and spatial solutions that support informed decision-making for internal teams and external stakeholders. You’ll work with a wide range of customers across Council, delivering high-quality geospatial data products, visualisations and insights that help shape services, infrastructure and community outcomes.

You will:

• Create, develop and maintain high-quality geospatial datasets
• Analyse spatial data to identify patterns, trends and insights
• Present GIS analysis through clear reports, maps and visualisations
• Provide support, training and advice to users of GIS systems
• Maintain and support GIS systems, tools and applications
• Contribute to the development of GIS applications and solutions
• Build strong working relationships with internal teams, contractors and suppliers
• Identify and recommend improvements to systems, processes and ways of working
• Contribute to projects and continuous improvement initiatives as required

About You

We’re looking for a technically capable GIS professional who enjoys working collaboratively and takes pride in delivering accurate, customer-focused solutions.

You’ll bring:

• Proven experience working with ArcGIS Pro and our GIS enterprise suite, specifically ArcGIS Portal and Online, as well as apps such as Survey 123, ESRI Experience Builder & FME
• A solid understanding of geospatial concepts, technologies and applications
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• The ability to communicate technical information clearly to a range of audiences
• Experience applying GIS within a local government or public sector environment
• Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to work with diverse stakeholders
• Previous experience in New Zealand land administration processes would be a strong advantage

This role is well suited to someone who enjoys both technical GIS work and partnering with others to get the most value from spatial data.
