The role
Build your career in environmental compliance while making a positive impact across our City!
As a Graduate Environmental Compliance and Protection Officer, you’ll gain hands-on experience supporting Council’s responsibilities across public health, environmental protection and land use compliance. You’ll work across a range of regulatory and compliance matters, developing practical skills and experience in applying key legislation while helping to protect the community and local environment.
This is a two-year Temporary Full-Time opportunity, commencing in February 2027 designed to build your knowledge of Local Government regulatory services, gain exposure to real-world compliance matters and establish a strong foundation for your career in environmental health and protection.
Duties will include but not be limited to:
Deliver a high standard of customer service, providing practical and solutions-focused advice.
Develop your knowledge and application of environmental, planning, public health and Local Government legislation.
Assist with investigations, evidence gathering, inspections, report writing and record keeping.
Work collaboratively with Council teams and external stakeholders, including government agencies, consultants and community groups.
Represent Council at meetings with community members, applicants, property owners and other stakeholders.
Assist with the preparation of reports, correspondence and regulatory advice.

You will have
A relevant tertiary qualification in Environmental Health or equivalent as accredited by Environmental Health Australia, completed within 24 months prior to February 2027.
A current C Class driver's licence.
The salary range for this opportunity starts at $74,692 (Grade D, Step 1) + 12% super.
