The role

The Health Safety and Wellbeing Coordinator is responsible for:

  • supporting and leading the development, coordination and implementation of effective Occupational Health, Safety and Wellbeing culture, strategies, systems, policies and programs
  • providing specialist advice and support to staff, contractors, volunteers, and Health and Safety Representatives
  • supporting and developing Manager and Supervisor health, safety and wellbeing capability, accountability and leadership
  • facilitating Health and Safety Committee meetings and monitoring compliance of consultative processes by liaising with Health and Safety Representatives and supervisors on issues, and making recommendations to the Executive as required
  • managing WorkCover Premiums, WorkCover claims including developing Return to Work plans

Our ideal candidate

To be successful in this role you will be an experienced professional, with:

  • relevant Occupational Health and Safety qualifications
  • extensive experience in a similar role, ideally in a local government setting
  • experience in continuously improving health, safety and wellbeing systems and processes to support strategic objectives as well as advancing the safety culture and profile across Council
  • knowledge of WorkCover processes and the development and implementation of Return to Work plans
