About the Role

As part of the People & Capability team, you'll step into a role with genuine scope to uplift and modernise our Health & Safety systems and practices, helping us embed a proactive, future-focused approach across all parts of Council. This role would be suited to someone who excels at both strategy and operational delivery and someone who can partner, and bring people along on the journey.

As our Health & Safety Manager you will:

  • Drive a proactive and engaged Health & Safety culture, influencing leaders and teams to embed safe practices into everyday work.
  • Oversee our Health & Safety Management System, ensuring it remains compliant, robust and fit-for-purpose.
  • Lead assurance activities such as audits, risk monitoring, and reporting to ensure strong organisational oversight.
  • Provide practical, expert advice and guidance to stakeholders.

About You

We need someone with strong health and safety experience and knowledge of the Health & Safety at Work Act 2015, along with the ability to interpret and apply it in a complex environment.

In addition, we’re looking for someone who brings:

  • An operational focus combined with a strategic, forward-looking mindset and the ability to anticipate and respond to emerging risks.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills and a collaborative approach to partnering across a diverse organisation.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate complex information into practical solutions.
  • A commitment to continuous improvement and driving positive cultural change.
