About The Role

We have a range of fixed-term positions available until 30 June 2026 as Host | Pou Tiaki at War Memorial Library and Maungaraki Community Library. These are lively, welcoming spaces with a strong sense of community.

As Pou Tiaki, you’ll be the friendly and approachable face of our libraries and hubs, providing information and support to customers and the wider community. You’ll play a key role in connecting our library with the community, supporting activities such as school holiday programmes, arts and culture initiatives, community events, general enquiries, and day-to-day library tasks. No two days are the same!

Position Details

All roles are fixed-term until 30 June 2026, working a range of shifts and shift times.

See below for a summary of weekly hours and days of work:

• Position 1: 32 hours/week (Mon, Tue, Wed, Sat)
• Position 2: 24 hours/week (Mon, Tue, Wed, Sat)
• Position 3: 20 hours/week (Mon, Thu, Fri, Sat)
• Position 4: 20 hours/week (Mon, Thu, Fri, Sat)
• Position 5: 20 hours/week (Mon, Tue, Wed, Sat)
• Position 6: 16 hours/week (Mon, Sat)
• Position 7: 24 hours/week, split between War Memorial Library and Maungaraki Community Library (Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat)

Maungaraki Community Library Role: This role is something special! You’ll work across War Memorial and Maungaraki Community Library, supporting a warm, close-knit community that loves to connect and help others. Bring your confidence and initiative to build great relationships with Maungaraki School, its students, and the wider community and make a real difference every day!

About You

We are looking for an innovative and community focused person with a can-do attitude and passion for developing and supporting library programmes and hub services. You will have an outstanding customer service and community-led development ethos, with the ability to work alongside a diverse range of people of all ages and from every part of our community.

Working with our team, you'll have a variety of different responsibilities working alongside children and adults. We are seeking someone who embraces biculturalism and cultural diversity, has confidence dealing with a wide range of customer groups, is confident using technology and recognises their own strengths and areas that require development.
