Are you ready to help shape the future of infrastructure in the Far North? As an Infrastructure Planner at Far North District Council, you’ll play a key role in delivering sustainable, community-focused infrastructure solutions. You’ll provide expert planning advice, lead resource consent applications, and collaborate across teams to ensure our infrastructure projects are strategically aligned and environmentally sound.

This is your opportunity to influence evidence based decision making, contribute planning documents like the Infrastructure Strategy and Long Term Plan, and engage meaningfully with stakeholders and communities. I ā koe - About You

Have at least two years of hands-on experience in infrastructure planning, civil works, or environmental engineering.

• Hold a relevant tertiary qualification in planning, engineering, or environmental science.

• Understand New Zealand’s planning frameworks and legislation, and can apply them confidently in a local government context.

• Are a clear and effective communicator, especially when writing reports or engaging with stakeholders.

• Enjoy working collaboratively and building strong relationships across teams and communities.

• Comfortable navigating complex or sensitive issues with professionalism.

• Bring a forward thinking mindset and always looking for ways to improve systems and outcomes.

• Committed to delivering meaningful results for the people of the Far North.

• Embrace cultural competency, including a willingness to engage with Te Ao Māori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles.

• The salary for this position is Grade 16 within Council's salary structure (Band: $87,554 to $103,005 pro rata per annum) dependent on qualifications and experience, plus Kiwi Saver.
