We're on the lookout for a mature, reliable, and people-focused team player to join us as a Lifeguard at Huia Pool + Fitness. There is a fixed term part-time vacancy available on a fixed-term basis to start ASAP until Late February 2026.

We're looking for a Lifeguard who can work 20+ hours a week. Whether you're after a career change, returning to the workforce, or ready to step into something that makes a difference, this could be for you.

What the Role Involves

As a Lifeguard, you'll:

• Keep our pools safe and welcoming for all ages.
• Interact with tamariki, whānau, swimmers, and sports teams.
• Help with general pool operations, cleaning, and setup.
• Learn about plant room procedures and pool water treatment.
• Be part of a team that cares about the people we serve and the standard we set.

Who We're Looking For

• You must hold a current Pool Lifeguard Practising Certificate (PLPC) and First Aid certificate.
• Be confident in the water and pass a swim test. The swim test includes swimming 200m freestyle in under 6 minutes, swim 50m breaststroke, swim 50m sidestroke, tread water for 5 minutes and retrieve a brick off the deepest part of the pool floor.
• Be mature, steady under pressure, and happy working with the public.
• Bring a good attitude, strong teamwork, and a willingness to get stuck in.
• Be available over the Christmas/new years period

Roster

This role is rostered for the following shifts:

Fridays 2:30pm - 9pm

Saturdays 7am - 12pm

Sundays 7am - 12pm OR 12pm - 7pm

Mondays 2:30pm - 9pm
