Media & Communications Officer

Cook Shire Council is looking for a creative, organised and community-minded Media and Communications Officer to help share our story, connect with our community, and promote the initiatives that make Cook Shire such a unique place to live and work.

This role plays a key part in delivering engaging media, marketing and communications that enhance Council’s reputation and strengthen relationships with our community and stakeholders.

What you'll be doing

  • Support Council’s communications and engagement activities across media, digital and marketing channels
  • Help deliver compelling content that aligns with Council’s brand and strategic objectives
  • Build positive relationships with media, internal teams and the community
  • Assist in promoting Council programs, events and initiatives that make a real difference locally
  • Create engaging content for Council’s website, social media, newsletters and other channels
  • Monitor media coverage relevant to Council
  • Respond to media enquiries professionally and in a timely manner

What we're looking for

  • Qualifications or relevant experience in media, communications or marketing
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience managing digital platforms, including WordPress and social media (Facebook, LinkedIn and X)
  • Strong computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office
  • Experience using tools such as Canva, Mailchimp and SurveyMonkey
  • Well-developed organisational and time-management skills
  • A current Class C driver licence

Queensland Local Government Industry (Stream A) Award – State 2017 – Level 2 - 4  subject to qualifications and experience

$74,800.00 - $85,800.00 per annum + applicable allowances

15 days personal leave

Superannuation

12% Superannuation contributions
