Te Wero – The Challenge

As a Monitoring Compliance Officer, you’ll play a key role in upholding the integrity of our district by:

• Ensuring compliance with legislation, General Bylaws, and Council policies.

• Responding to complaints, enquiries, and service requests in line with our Request for Service (RFS) procedures.

• Producing high-quality investigations and reports, files, and correspondence to support monitoring activities.

• Championing health and safety practices in accordance with Council policies and the Health and Safety in Employment Act.

• Supporting additional tasks and projects as delegated.

I ā koe - About You

We’re seeking a proactive and community-minded professional who brings:

• Relevant qualifications in local government legislation (desirable but not essential).

• At least 3 years’ experience in local government, investigative or compliance roles.

• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to foster collaboration.

• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines.

• A passion for delivering outstanding customer service.

• Clear and confident written and verbal communication.

• The ability to relate to a diverse range of people.

• Advanced documentation and workflow process writing skills.

• Proven relationship-building and stakeholder engagement capabilities.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Access).

• A progressive mindset focused on continuous improvement.

• A genuine desire to achieve the best outcomes for our community.

• The salary for this position is Grade 13 within Council's salary structure (Band: $70,487 to $82,926 pro rata per annum) dependent on qualifications and experience, plus Kiwi Saver.
