Key Responsibilities:

•    Operate the Kyogle landfill weighbridge and associated computer systems, maintain accurate records and collect fees and charges.
•    Assist with environmental monitoring and compliance with the facility’s Environment Protection Licence (EPL) and environmental management requirements.
•    Operate small and large items of plant and equipment safely and efficiently, including loaders, compactors, forklifts and hook/lift trucks where appropriately licensed or competent.
•    Maintain waste facilities and surrounding areas in a clean, tidy and safe condition.
•    Assist with resource recovery reporting, waste surveys, environmental monitoring and other internal and regulatory reporting requirements.
•    Assist with reviewing and improving waste management policies, procedures and operational practices.
•    Assist with grant applications and waste management projects.
•    Respond to enquiries and provide information to members of the public visiting Council’s waste facilities.
•    Participate in regional and state waste management meetings and collaborate with other waste management professionals to improve outcomes.
•    Assist compliance officers with illegal dumping and animal control matters when required.
•    Promote and maintain a positive team culture focused on safety, performance, continuous improvement and quality customer service.

About you:

We are looking for someone who is practical, reliable and committed to providing high-quality waste management services to the community.

You will demonstrate:
•    A strong commitment to workplace health and safety and environmental protection.
•    The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment.
•    Good communication and customer service skills, with the ability to interact professionally with members of the public, contractors and colleagues.
•    The ability to supervise and support staff and promote safe and effective work practices.
•    Strong organisational skills and the ability to plan, prioritise and respond to changing operational requirements.
•    A willingness to learn, develop your skills and contribute ideas for improving waste management services.
•    Personal accountability, integrity and a commitment to following legislation, policies and procedures.
