About the role

We’re on an exciting journey to attract, grow and support events that bring Te Awa Kairangi ki tai Lower Hutt to life, strengthen community connection and boost our local economy – and we’re looking for someone who’s ready to help lead the way!

In this role, you’ll be right in the action: building and strengthening commercial partnerships with event organisers, promoters, private sector partners and sponsors. You'll help secure multi-year events that make people proud to call Lower Hutt home. From supporting event logistics and creative campaigns to identifying fresh opportunities and driving partnership activity, you’ll be at the heart of making our city’s event programme flourish.

Everyday your mahi will contribute to a more exciting, lively and connected city. You’ll shape and lead negotiations that produce shared wins for local businesses, event partners, and our communities. You’ll work in a high performing team helping plan, coordinate and bring to life a vibrant programme of council supported events.


About you

With experience in business development, marketing and event planning, you know how to think commercially while still bringing creative flair to the table. You’re confident building relationships across the private sector, spotting sponsorship opportunities, and shaping proposals that create real value for both the community and private sector partners.

A natural organiser and communicator, you love working at pace and juggling multiple projects. You collaborate easily, enjoy problem-solving, and take pride in supporting others to deliver memorable, successful events. An understanding of Te Tiriti principles and how they apply to your everyday mahi is essential.
