Every day, your work helps keep local roads safe, accessible, and reliable for the people who live, work, and travel in our region. As a Road Maintenance Officer, you’ll see the tangible results of your efforts and take pride in contributing to essential infrastructure that supports the whole community.
You’ll be part of a hands-on, close-knit team that looks out for one another. Safety is our priority – for our people and the public – and you’ll work in an environment where safe systems of work, clear procedures, and strong supervision are standard practice. Toolbox talks, site inductions, and teamwork ensure everyone goes home safe.
No two days are the same. Your role will involve a mix of road construction and maintenance, traffic control, manual works, plant operation, drainage and roadside maintenance. This is an active, outdoor role that suits people who enjoy physical work, practical problem-solving, and seeing real progress on the job.
We offer permanent, full-time employment with consistent hours and opportunities for overtime during peak works and emergency response. Working within local government provides long-term job security and dependable conditions.
We support your growth by building on your existing skills and providing opportunities to gain further training and certifications. You’ll develop experience across a broad range of road maintenance activities and machinery, increasing your capability and confidence over time.
We value people who take pride in their work, show respect for others, and contribute positively to a team environment. Your reliability, commitment, and “can-do” attitude are recognised and appreciated.
