We’re seeking a proactive Business Support Officer to provide high-quality administrative, financial and operational support to our Civil Construction and Maintenance teams.

In this varied role, you’ll assist and support with the Construction and Maintenance Works Program development, implementation and delivery assistance. You’ll work closely with supervisors, engineers and field crews, helping turn plans into practical outcomes for our community.

Term:                         Permanent Full-time 

Hours of Work:         72.5 hours per fortnight 

Pay Level:                 $2974.96 to $3454.36 per fortnight (Level 3-4), plus 12% superannuation and 17.5% annual leave loading 

In accordance with Council's Enterprise Agreement and the relevant Award. Pay rate dependant on relevant skills and experience. 

Employment Base:  Warwick, Queensland

About the Department

The Works Department falls within the Infrastructure, Assets and Projects Directorate to deliver essential services to the community by planning, designing, constructing and maintaining roads, bridges, culverts, stormwater infrastructure, kerb and channel, footpaths and street lighting. In addition, the Works department provides services to the Department of Transport and Main Roads under contract to maintain sections of the state-controlled road network within Southern Downs. The department further governs activities conducted by members of the community, such as the construction of private driveway accesses.

Working within the SDRC Works Department will offer you the satisfaction of directly delivering infrastructure services for the Southern Downs community.

The complete Key Responsibilities of this role can be found in the Position DescriptionThese include (but are not limited to):  

  • Assist in the planning, development and implementation of Council’s works program monitoring including timeline, forecasting, cashflow and monthly reports
  • Assist the Principal Engineers in making budget review recommendations to the Manager
  • Edit and update capital works and operational budget through the Budget Review process in TechOne
  • Assist the Manager in the financial management of the works program including payment claims including procurement processes
  • Assist and actively seek positive improvements to the Project Management Framework (PMF) to the way Council delivers project management services.

 

What You Will Need

To be considered for this role, you will need:

  • The legal right to live and work in Australia.
  • A Class C (car) licence or greater is required in this role.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing advice and assistance in the planning, development and implementation of works program (Ms Project or similar) and project management principles
  • Working knowledge of accounting and budgetary spreadsheets coupled with the ability to interpret this information and how it relates to the workplace.
  • To be able to demonstrate your competence in relation to all of the Selection Criteria as detailed in the Position Description.
