The opportunity

As the Coordinator Risk Management and Insurance, you’ll be central to strengthening Council’s resilience, integrity and organisational confidence. Leading the development of a mature, practical and people centred approach to risk, you’ll be working closely across all departments to embed best practice systems, uplift capability and support teams to manage operational and strategic risks. Your personable and collaborative style will help you guide business continuity planning, support fraud and corruption prevention, and provide clear, expert advice that helps leaders make informed decisions. You thrive on building relationships, educating others, and shaping a strong corporate risk culture across the organisation.

What you’ll be doing

  • Leading and continuously improving Council’s Risk Management Framework and risk maturity.
  • Building organisational capability in risk, resilience and business continuity planning.
  • Identifying, analysing and supporting management of operational, strategic and emerging risks.
  • Providing high quality risk and assurance reporting to ELT, Audit & Risk Committee and Council.
  • Overseeing fraud and corruption prevention frameworks, policies and controls.
  • Managing insurance program and claims processes (experience desirable, not essential).

What you'll need to succeed

  • Strong expertise in enterprise and operational risk management, ideally in local government.
  • Experience developing and maintaining business continuity and resilience frameworks.
  • Personable communicator who can work across the organisation and influence outcomes.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with ability to interpret complex data.
  • Leadership capability with experience uplifting, coaching and educating staff and stakeholders.
