In this role, you will be actively supporting the delivery of businesses, and economic and tourism development projects which establish business growth. You will also be developing economic stability and employment throughout the Southern Downs Region.
Term: Temporary Full-time, Fixed-term contract of up to 30th April 2026
Hours of Work: 72.5 hours per fortnight
Pay Level: $3,245.40 to $3,454.36 per fortnight (Level 4), plus 12% superannuation and 17.5% annual leave loading
In accordance with Council's Enterprise Agreement and the relevant Award. Pay rate dependant on relevant skills and experience.
Employment Base: Warwick, Queensland

About the Department
The Strategy, Growth and Stakeholder Engagement Department works collaboratively with industry, business groups and the broader community to support long term prosperity for the Southern Downs region. It is a multi-disciplinary Department that includes research and advocacy, community engagement, economic development, grant acquisition, communication and marketing, and festivals and events.

- Assist in the development and implementation of economic-development-related strategies, policies and procedures;
- Liaise with local business owners and operators to assist and support region-wide economic development;
- Provide support to key stakeholders, including community groups, sponsors and government agencies involved in the economic development related activities and projects; and
- Manage the coordination of activities that encourage and promote economic development and tourism in the region, including the facilitation of events and festivals across the region.
What You Will Need
To be considered for this role, you will need:
- The legal right to live and work in Australia
- FLEXIBLE WORK HOURS
- Preparedness to work flexible hours outside the scope of normal business hours (early mornings, evenings and/or Saturday).
- REQUIRED LICENCES & QUALIFICATIONS
- A person in this role will need to hold a relevant qualification(s) of at least certificate level;
- A Class C (car) licence or greater is required in this role; and
- A Blue (Working with Children) Card, or the ability to obtain this card is also required.
- Highly developed knowledge of commercial sector key success and the ability to implement programs within the region that support industry development
- Relevant experience in industry and economic development
- High-level computer literacy and demonstrated skills in the operation of current computer applications
- Well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise with a diverse range of stakeholders and produce professional business documents
- To be able to demonstrate your competence in relation to all of the Selection Criteria as detailed in the Position Description.
