Are you passionate about creating impactful experiences through festivals and events that positively influence the Southern Downs Community? This job could be for you!

Your role as the Festival and Events Officer is to coordinate and deliver key events and festivals to the Southern Downs Region. You will be building networks and managing strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, as well as contributing to the retention and cultivation of clients through effective communication with stakeholders, managing conflicting priorities and much more!

 

Term:                         Full-time

Hours of Work:         72.5 hours per fortnight

Pay Level:                 $3,779.44 to $4,011.70 per fortnight (Level 6), plus 12% superannuation and 17.5% annual leave loading 

In accordance with Council's Enterprise Agreement and the relevant Award. Pay rate dependant on relevant skills and experience. 

Employment Base:  Warwick, Queensland

About the Department

The Strategy, Growth and Stakeholder Engagement Department works collaboratively with industry, business groups and the broader community to support long term prosperity for the Southern Downs region. It is a multi-disciplinary Department that includes research and advocacy, community engagement, economic development, grant acquisition, communication and marketing, and festivals and events.

The complete Key Responsibilities of this role can be found in the Position DescriptionThese include (but are not limited to):  

  • Event Attraction & Management
    • Identify new events and festivals and bring these to the attention of the Economic Development Team; and
    • Monitor and evaluate event and festival success through feedback (complaints and positive feedback), data collections (including economic impact, visitor research and local attendee numbers) and post-event reporting, briefing notes and presentations as required.
  • Event/Stakeholder Organiser Support
    • Be the key point of contact within Council for liaison with event organisers and enquiries, referring applicants to relevant officers within Council for considerations, relating to new and existing events; and
    • Provide advice and support to stakeholders and organisers to assist them complete necessary permits, application processes and deliver safe and compliant events.
  • Internal Systems
    • Develop sponsorship agreements for events and festivals, as identified in the Council Events Calendar; and
    • Participate in Department meetings and other initiatives and provide regular updates on projects and programs relating to Council's Festival and Events Portfolio.

 

What You Will Need

To be considered for this role, you will need:

  • The legal right to live and work in Australia
  • MANDATORY POSITION REQUIREMENTS
    • Preparedness to work flexible hours outside the scope of normal business hours (early mornings, evenings and/or Saturday).
  • REQUIRED LICENCES AND QUALIFICATIONS
    • A Class C (car) licence or greater is required in this role;
    • A Blue Card (Working with Children), or the ability to obtain this card, is also required; and
    • A White Construction Card, or the ability to obtain one, is a mandatory requirement for this role.
  • Demonstrated experience sourcing, managing and coordinating events and festivals preferably in a local government environment working with local community event organisers and the wider community​​​​​​​
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills, including verbal and written, advocacy and the ability to influence and negotiate
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Demonstrated strong project skills coordinating successful and sometimes complex festivals and events from concept to post-event evaluation
  • To be able to demonstrate your competence in relation to all of the Selection Criteria as detailed in the Position Description.
