What we’re looking for

We’re seeking a motivated and reliable team member with the physical capacity to undertake a variety of labouring and horticultural maintenance tasks in a tropical environment. You’ll bring experience operating small plant and equipment, driving trucks with trailers, and carrying out routine servicing and safety checks. A strong understanding of Workplace Health and Safety, Environmental considerations and quality customer service is essential. You will also be someone who works well in a small team, communicates clearly with the public, and can work independently with limited supervision. Required qualifications include a current Queensland LR licence, White Card, and Working in Proximity to Traffic (Parts 1 & 2 or ability to obtain). Additional skills or licences, such as MR licence, ACDC, chainsaw certification or experience in horticulture are highly regarded.

 

What you’ll be doing

Maintaining landscaped gardens, lawns, public parks, open spaces and roadside areas in line with scheduled work programs

Carrying out mowing, gardening, labouring and tree maintenance tasks in an environmentally sensitive manner

Operating small plant, equipment and vehicles safely, including conducting daily checks and routine servicing

Providing friendly and professional customer service when interacting with community members

Communicating and working effectively with your immediate team and other Council departments

Participating in training, workshops and development opportunities

Ensuring accurate recordkeeping within Council systems

Undertaking other duties as required to support Parks and Open Spaces operations
