Do you enjoy undertaking projects and completing regulatory compliance activities? This job could be for you!

As a Regulatory Services Project Officer, you will make business improvements, regulatory compliance activities and project work. You will also be assisting your fellow officers with data reviews, compliance projects, developing procedures, and implementing new software and workflows. These won't be your only tasks, as they will vary over the extent of your employment with us.

 

Term:                         Temporary, Full-time | Two (2) Year Term

Hours of Work:         72.5 hours per fortnight

Pay Level:                 $2,974.96 to $3,175.82 per fortnight (Level 3), plus 12% superannuation and 17.5% annual leave loading 

In accordance with Council's Enterprise Agreement and the relevant Award. Pay rate dependant on relevant skills and experience. 

Employment Base:  Warwick or Stanthorpe, Queensland (will be negotiated with successful candidate)

Other Information:    Flexible Start/Finish Times (within Daily Standard Hours)

About the Department

The Environmental Services Department falls within the Communities, Planning and Environmental Services Directorate and plays a critical role in delivering on the liveability of our region. The Regulatory Services, Local Laws and Waste Management teams cover a diverse range of roles and responsibilities from ensuring food and public health safety, investigating environmental nuisance and pollution incidences, animal control, pest management, environmental sustainability programs and planning and building compliance.

Furthermore, the department delivers all aspects of waste operations including roadside collections, waste facilities, investigating waste minimisation and resource recovery opportunities and the strategic management of waste in Southern Downs.

The complete Key Responsibilities of this role can be found in the Position DescriptionThese include (but are not limited to):  

  • Undertake projects to assist with compliance activity as directed, which may include developing project plans, data review and consolidation, undertaking compliance actions to resolve outstanding matters, and developing procedures for on-going compliance to be part of the team's functions;
  • Assist with implementing new software into the team, including identifying needs of the team and ensuring any changes to workflows and processes meet the needs of the team;
  • From time to time, you may be required to assist in similar duties across other teams in the Communities, Planning and Environmental Services Directorate.

 

What You Will Need

To be considered for this role, you will need:

  • The legal right to live and work in Australia;
  • REQUIRED LICENCES & QUALIFICATIONS
    • A Class C (Car) Licence
  • Knowledge of, and ability to, interpret and apply relevant legislation relating to work in the Directorate function of Council;
  • Demonstrated experience in writing procedures, reports and briefing papers, or similar written documents;
  • Experience in investigation and enforcement of legislation or similar controls, and an ability to deal effectively with difficult customers;
  • Well-developed research, analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly acquire an understanding of policies and operations, and utilise relevant management systems;
  • To be able to demonstrate your competence in relation to all of the Selection Criteria as detailed in the Position Description.
