What You'll Do:

This position is responsible for the operation and maintenance of Council’s Return & Earn facility. This role facilitates the automated public drop off point for containers eligible for the 10c rebate as part of the state governments Return & Earn scheme. This role is a customer service-based role that includes operating a forklift and ensuring the site and equipment is maintained in a fit for purpose state, is kept clean and tidy and complies with safety requirements.

Key responsibilities:

  • Providing friendly, high‑quality customer service
  • Guiding customers on safe and correct unloading of containers
  • Operating sorting machinery and ensuring accurate processing
  • Operating cardboard baler and polystyrene compactor
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and compliant site
  • Identifying and returning non‑eligible items to customers
  • Supporting general labouring and site maintenance tasks
  • Reporting hazards and contributing to a strong safety culture
  • Coordinating safe truck and bin movements on site
  • Participating in team discussions and continuous improvement
