The role:
Council is seeking a talented and motivated communications professional to
join our organisation as a Senior Communications Advisor.
This is a critical role for Council as it is responsible for shaping how
Council connects with its community, stakeholders, and staff.
The Senior Communications Advisor will lead the Communications team to promote Council’s role, services, and initiatives through clear, consistent, and contemporary communication practices. You will play a strategic role in strengthening Council’s reputation and ensuring our messages are timely, accessible, and aligned with organisational objectives.
Key responsibilities include leading the development
and implementation of Council’s communication and engagement strategies, with a
strong focus on digital and online platforms. You will oversee the delivery of
high-quality communications and public relations materials, ensuring messaging
is tailored to diverse audiences and supports meaningful community engagement.

- $1557.20 to $1744.10 per 35 hour week + 12% super and the opportunity for salary progression
- 20 days paid annual leave every year and a flexi-time system with the ability to accrue 1 flexi day every 3 weeks (per 35 hour week, calculated pre-rata)

What we need from you:
Ideally, you will bring the following skills, experience, and attributes:
- A Diploma
in Media and Communication, Public Relations or a related field, or
equivalent relevant experience.
- Demonstrated
experience in a similar communications or public relations role.
- Proven
ability to lead and support a small team to deliver high-quality
communications outcomes.
- Strong
attention to detail, with excellent written and verbal communication
skills.
- The
ability to understand and operate effectively within a political and
community-focused environment.
- Experience
developing and delivering communications across a range of channels,
including digital platforms.
- Working
knowledge of graphic design software and digital content tools.
- Previous
experience working in Local Government or the public sector.
