at Blacktown City Council
Full TimeSurveyor's Assistant
Job No: BC3695
Location: Blacktown, NSW
Professional expertise. Personal purpose.
As a Surveyor's Assistant, you support engineers and surveyors with field and office work that helps Council plan, design and maintain community infrastructure. You collect survey information, undertake site inspections, locate underground services, assist with traffic data collection and maintain records that support projects across Blacktown. You work at a range of locations throughout the city and contribute to the safe and efficient delivery of services.
No two weeks look the same. You assist with field surveys, set out construction works, carry out traffic and radar speed counts, program traffic counters, take photographs, support inspections and help prepare reports and records. Depending on your skills and experience, you may use survey instruments, complete simple survey calculations, set out line marking and assist with construction set-out activities such as pedestrian crossings.
The information you collect supports decisions about roads, traffic management, infrastructure projects and community assets. Your work helps Council understand existing conditions, plan future works and deliver services that support a growing city.
This opportunity offers stable employment, practical on-the-job learning and exposure to a broad range of surveying and engineering activities. The role suits someone who enjoys hands-on work, working outdoors, being part of a team and taking pride in completing work safely and accurately. Whether you're starting your career or building on existing experience, we would love to hear from you.
At Blacktown City Council, good people make great teams, and great teams build great cities. Here, you will find the stability and support to keep growing, along with:
