The Role:

This position will undertake a variety of duties across the Building, Structures and Rapid Response & Signage Maintenance Teams. All tasks will be undertaken with the efficient, safe and effective operation of power tools, plant and equipment used in association with those duties.

Key Responsibility

  • As a Carpenter based within the Building Maintenance team, you will play an important role in maintaining council's built assets and will be required to undertake the below duties:
    • Carpentry, - Repairing damaged wooden components like doors, flooring, windows
    • Minor roof repairs to guttering, flashing and waterproofing
    • Internal/External Painting
    • Graffiti Removal
    • Pressure Cleaning
    • Sandblasting
    • Gyprock Repair
    • Plastering
    • Flushing
    • Maintenance and repair to furniture, buildings and structures
  • Driving of a medium rigid truck or Ute/vehicle associated with the tasks required.
  • Lease with external contractors where necessary to ensure operations are undertaken to specified standards.
  • Assist in coaching and training staff, including apprentices, trainees and casuals, to develop work skills and increase efficiency.
  • Act as a backup staff member across the Structures & Rapid Response and Signage team as required.

Skill & Competencies:

  • Current Driver's License
  • Trade level certificate in Carpentry and/or Metal Fabrication such as Fitter & Turner or Boiler Maker
  • Competency and significant experience in metal fabrication and carpentry maintenance related tasks
