About the role

As a Trainee Crew Member, you will be part of a supportive team helping keep Central Coast Council's Waste Facility runnng safely and smoothly. You do not need any experience - we will teach you everything you need to know!

What you will be doing:

  • Working outdoors and staying active (no sitting at a desk all day!)
  • Helping customers sort waste and recycling correctly
  • Using tools and equipment safely (with full training provided)
  • Keeping the site clean, tidy and environmentally compliant 
  • Learning practical skills like brush cutting and using specialised equipment such as our remote control lawn mower

Who we are looking for:

  • You are enthusiastic, reliable and ready to have a go
  • You enjoy practical work, working with others and being outdoors
  • You have a positive attitude and a willingness to roll up your sleeves
  • You have a minimum education of Year 10 School Certificate or RoSA (Record of School Achievement)
  • Ability to undertake training to obtain qualifications in the waste operation field

This position is required to provide quality customer service and create value for the community.

Please note interviews will be held on Friday 9 January 2026 at our Buttonderry Waste Facility.

Other important information

  • The salary range for these positions sit between $494 to $847 per week ($25.8K to $44.1K per annum) dependent on age and school qualifications + 12% Superannuation 
  • This is a temporary full-time role
  • The role will be able to access a 9 day fortnight
  • The role is located at Buttonderry Waste Facility - an ability to get to and from work without public transport is a must
  • The successful applicant will have the ability to complete training online
