Council is seeking applications from suitably qualified experienced persons and those willing to train to perform a range of lifeguard, customer service and facility maintenance duties within Council’s Aquatic Centres at Grenfell and Quandialla. 

Primary Purpose of the Position

You will ensure delivery of a safe swimming environment, help supervise the safety and wellbeing of all patrons while supporting the day-to-day operations, customer service duties, canteen services including cooking and preparing food in our aquatic facilities.

You will assist in maintaining clean, safe and well-presented pool environments and work closely with the Senior Pool Lifeguard to deliver a positive customer experience.

We're looking for reliable and customer-focused team members who are committed to safety, teamwork and providing excellent service to our community.

The 2026/2027 season runs from September 2026 to March 2027 with shifts rostered Monday to Sunday across a variety of operating hours.

Key Accountabilities

Within the area of responsibility, this role is required to:

  • Ensure public safety within Aquatic Centres in accordance with Council policies, procedures and WHS requirements. 
  • Perform lifeguard duties in accordance with training and licence requirements.
  • Provide quality customer service, as required, to Aquatic Centre users.
  • Assist with pool, pool plant and facilities management, and cleaning, as required. 

Essential Requirements 

  • Current RLSS - Australia Pool Lifeguard License or above or equivalent (or ability to obtain prior to commencement).
  • Working With Children Check/Number (or ability to obtain).
  • Demonstrated experience.
  • Working knowledge of WHS responsibilities.
  • Class C Drivers licence (Provisional licence acceptable).

    

Condition of employment 

  • Grade 3 Entry level $35.85855 per hour to Grade 3 Step 4 $39.4441 per hour includes  25% casual loading depending on skills and experience.
  • Appointment to the position will be in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award and Council’s salary structure.
  • Ideally candidates will be 18 years and above, with consideration given to those applying for the role aged between 16 and 17.
  • A health assessment, National Police check, Working With Children’s Check if not already completed, which meets pre-requisites for our positions.
