The Role

The Bush Regenerator will work as part of a small team to maintain and improve Council’s bushland and stormwater assets. You will undertake a range of bush regeneration and vegetation management activities, ensuring works are completed safely, effectively, within scheduled timeframes and in accordance with service level requirements, Plans of Management and site strategies.

You will identify hazards, assess risks, implement safe work procedures and report incidents and near misses. You will also operate and maintain a range of plant and equipment and provide recommendations for maintenance and improvements.

The role involves working with Bushcare Crew Leaders and Team Leaders as well as providing support to volunteers and community groups. You will also contribute to accurate record keeping, reporting, on-the-job training and skills development. 

Duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Participate in the maintenance and improvement of natural areas within a small team.
  • Carry out bush regeneration and associated vegetation management activities, including weed control, planting, mulching, installation of erosion control devices and Asset Protection Zone (APZ) maintenance.
  • Undertake establishment of control lines, surveys, site inspections and assessments, and seed collection.
  • Provide supervision and/or support for safe work by Bushcare volunteers and community groups
  • Report and/or remove dumped rubbish and debris from bushland areas.
  • Assist with accurate record keeping

You will have

  • Certificate 3 in Bush Regeneration, Natural Resource Management or equivalent, or be working towards a relevant qualification.
  • AQF level 3 Chemical Use and Handling Accreditation.
  • Class C driver licence.
  • Experience controlling weeds using chemical and mechanical methods. 

The salary range for this opportunity starts at $69,034 (Grade C, Step 1) + 12% super. Salary may be negotiable dependent on skills and experience.
