Cook Shire Council is looking for a Human Resources Advisor to join our People, Performance and Safety team and provide trusted HR advice and support across the organisation.

What you'll be doing
No two days will be quite the same. You’ll have the opportunity to:

• Provide practical HR advice to Managers and Supervisors on people, performance and conduct matters.
• Coach leaders to build their confidence and capability in managing people.
• Interpret and apply employment legislation, industrial instruments and policies.
• Manage end-to-end recruitment across Council.
• Contribute to HR programs, projects and policy initiatives.
• Work collaboratively with the broader People, Performance and Safety team.

In short, you'll be a trusted HR partner — helping our leaders navigate the people stuff, supporting employees and contributing to a positive, fair and high-performing workplace

What we're looking for
We’re looking for someone who brings:

• Tertiary qualifications in HR or a related discipline, together with substantial generalist HR experience.
• Experience working under the Queensland industrial relations framework desirable (Qld IR Act 2016).
• The confidence to work independently and use initiative when dealing with complex or less-defined matters.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
• A practical, proactive and customer-focused approach.
• The ability to manage a varied caseload, meet deadlines and stay calm when things get busy.
• Confidentiality, discretion and sound judgement.
