Want to make a difference in your community?

At the City of Port Phillip, we're looking for someone who genuinely cares about community outcomes and the people who make those outcomes happen.

This role is perfect for someone who enjoys variety, loves building relationships, and gets satisfaction from helping projects, events and community initiatives run smoothly. One day you might be supporting a community consultation, the next you're helping coordinate an event, preparing a report, improving a process, updating communications, or working alongside local organisations to achieve great outcomes.

If you're organised, proactive and enjoy working with people, we'd love to hear from you.

About the Role

As our Community Support and Projects Officer, you'll play an important role supporting the Community and Social Planning team to deliver projects, community engagement activities, events, communications and business improvement initiatives. You'll help keep projects on track, build relationships with stakeholders, support community participation, and ensure the team's systems and processes run effectively.

This is a role for someone who enjoys working behind the scenes to make things happen, while also getting out into the community and connecting with the people who use and deliver local services.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Supporting community projects, programs and initiatives from planning through to delivery.
  • Coordinating community engagement activities, workshops, consultations and events.
  • Building positive relationships with community members, service providers and stakeholders.
  • Preparing reports, presentations, communications and digital content.
  • Managing procurement, reporting, records and administration processes.
  • Finding smarter ways of working and contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.

About You

We're less interested in finding someone who ticks every single box and more interested in finding someone who is enthusiastic about helping communities thrive.

You'll ideally bring:

  • Experience in community development, community engagement, administration, project support or customer-focused roles.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Excellent written communication skills and confidence preparing reports, presentations and communications.
  • A collaborative approach and genuine interest in working with diverse communities and stakeholders.
  • Curiosity, initiative and a desire to improve systems, processes and customer experiences.

Why Join Us?

At the City of Port Phillip, you'll be joining a team that is passionate about community wellbeing, inclusion and creating positive social outcomes.

You'll have the opportunity to:

  • Work on meaningful projects that make a real difference locally.
  • Build relationships with community organisations, residents and service providers.
  • Develop your skills across community engagement, project delivery, communications and policy.
  • Be part of a supportive and collaborative team environment.
  • Enjoy flexible working arrangements and professional development opportunities.
