Join Banyule City Council as a Capital Accountant — where finance, assets and community impact meet.
Are you a technically strong accountant who enjoys turning complex financial information into clear, practical advice? Do you want to use your financial expertise to support meaningful community infrastructure and long-term sustainability?
Banyule City Council is looking for a Capital Accountant to join our Strategic Finance and Performance team. This is a great opportunity to play a key role in the financial stewardship of Business unit budgets, Council’s capital works, fixed assets and development contributions functions.
About the role and what you’ll do
In this parental leave cover role, you will manage Council’s Fixed Asset Register, provide specialist asset accounting advice (business partnering), support capital works forecasting and reporting, and partner with stakeholders across Council to strengthen financial planning and decision-making. You will also lead Development Contributions Plan functions and support accurate, compliant and timely reporting.
This is a role for someone who enjoys both the technical detail and the bigger picture — someone who can interpret accounting standards, analyse financial data, build trusted relationships and provide advice that helps Council make informed investment decisions.
This role is part of Banyule’s Leadership Network – you’ll have opportunities to grow your skills and experience of leadership in a Local Government context and develop your skills as an organisational leader beyond your role-based expertise.
